Results of a performance improvement initiative at CGM’s Presitex Red factory in Lesotho indicate efficiency improvements of over 20%.
This translated into bottom line savings of over R2,2 million, giving the firm a 6 : 1 return on its project investment.
In addition, PSA trained up 4 internal trainers and an internal facilitator to enable roll out of the project to the remaining Presitex Red lines.
Ms Diana Marinduque, Chief Operations Officer at Presitex Red reports a dramatic improvement on the pilot line, “This programme really worked!” she adds.
The project was partially funded by the Commark Trust which regularly assessed progress.
CGM will now, with the help of PSA, be establishing a performance improvement initiative in two of its other factories in Lesotho.
“The impact on the shopfloor is enormous,” Tlelima Kebise, Internal Facilitator. “To be asked to contribute to solving problems is a real boost for them. Its like they’ve been given a voice.”
Geoff Schreiner, PSA Project Manager, said, “CGM is a plant with lots of opportunities, Presitex Red took these and the results speak for themselves with its being the best performing factory in the group in 2006. We are pleased to have been part of this achievement.”
