“It’s the dawning of a new era for PSA,” says Founding Director Geoff Schreiner. Dumisani Mbanjwa and I began PSA in 1996 in response to a demand to bring together stakeholders to encourage meaningful dialogue and find common ground post-1994. Sometimes the stakeholders were management & labour, sometimes local communities and developers or politicians. Participation was the name of the game back then.”
More than 10 years later PSA continues to respond to market demands as it focuses on organisational performance. “The key,” says Joan Ngqulunga, Director, “remains with effective dialogue and relationships. That hasn’t changed. But now we’re talking hard measures and targets – bottom line results – and the ability for everyone in the organisation to understand what these are, why they’re in place and how best to ensure performance and share in the rewards.”
