The principals management and development programme (PMDP), as was initially piloted in 2009 and rolled out to reach different schools in the 12 districts of Kwa Zulu Natal in the years 2010 & 2011, has done it again with the participating schools improving their results. The programme which was run successfully in 2010 also proved to be a success in the year 2011 even though the 2011 group ha only completed 4 of the 6 Modules by the en of the year. They will complete the outstanding modules early in 2012.
The programme has seen an overall improvement with all the schools that participated including the year 2011 group. Despite the 2.6% drop in the provincial results, PMDP boasts a 5.9% improvement amongst the 2011 participants. Apart from the hard work that was put in by our facilitators, the good results also come from the fact that the PMDP is a highly practical management programme and requires the delegates to work with their School Management Teams (SMT’s) to implement a total of 24 outputs over the 6 months. The programme consists of 6 Modules with each module having its own specific and relevant outputs for implementation.
The programme includes group training sessions at venues throughout the province each weekend and then one on one coaching sessions take place at each school to assist the Principals in completing the outputs.
