Getting schools to use data to drive performance improvement is one of the most important and challenging requirements in the current SA public schools’ scenario.
PSA is a member of the NECT Consortium involved in managing the district improvement in the Bohlabela District. We have recently partnered with the New Leaders Foundation team to improve the use of data by school principals HOD, teachers and administrators.
The NLF team (Peter Searle and Noluthando Mqakelana) has been involved in training up our implementation teams on the various Data Driven Dashboard (DDD) Reports to enhance the better use and analysis of data at the school level.
The DDD, is a computerised dashboard system which draws data from the SA-SAMS system and visualises this graphically for decision making at various levels of the school system.
Our teams were able to reflect on how each of the key reports could be used, to improve our support to schools and the district, as well as how each team could assist in getting DDD used in the District and its schools.
Over the next six months the Bohlabela team is aiming to build its own skills and confidence in the use of DDD and reports, and to also support its use in the district to achieve improved learning outcomes.
