PSA has recently been commissioned by Kagiso Trust to support leadership, management and governance development in the Sekhukhune East District in Limpopo.
The initiative includes 57 schools (primary and secondary) across 8 circuits.
On 11 May 2021, PSA facilitated a well-attended workshop which was attended by the District Director and other district officials. The focus of the workshop was to launch the programme, and to agree on the type of support to be provided to schools, as well as the approach.
All schools attended the Induction Workshops from the 17th until 19th May which were designed to introduce the programme to the school management teams, share the approach and the programme of support for the next 12 months.
Currently, baseline assessments on the existing ‘management practices’ are being conducted with all schools which will provide information on where the focus of support should be. These assessments will be conducted again at the end of 12 months to determine the improvement that schools have achieved by that time.
From 9 June 2021, the programme will commence its rollout, where central workshops and a combination of on-site and virtual coaching sessions will be delivered, driven by the coaches and supported by district officials.
The programme will focus on strengthening school management teams, in areas of, amongst others, planning, curriculum coverage & management, leadership in times of crisis and psycho-social support.
