Uthando Child Care
Performance Solutions Africa has for many years been donating to Uthando Child Care in Stone Hill, Kwamakhutha.
Uthando Child Care was founded in 1996 by Mrs Dolly Vinolia Kweyama on land donated by SA Tioxide. Currently, they have 74 students between 0-6 years of age and 8 staff members.
Uthando Child Care's mission is expressed as “Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6) or in traditional Zulu “Ubuntu bomntwana bakhiwa ebuntwaneni”.
For Mrs Kweyama the major problem confronting the pre-school is a reliable funding stream. Most of the funds that are raised go towards buying food, equipment, toys, and stationery for the children. As such, staff salaries remain very low.
